TEAM NEWS

The season has started well for the U14 Sharks.  The first 4 weeks were one day matches and the team got through undefeated. As has always been the case for this team, everyone has contributed with all players getting some runs on the board, all players have taken a wicket bowling and every player has made a catch or runout.

We then moved onto the first of our 2 day matches against Duncraig Carine.  This is a classy team with some Districts players, so it was always going to be a good match.

The team went into bat and produced a sizzling 236 off the 50 overs.  James Quinn-Schofield starred with 65, including 11 fours, getting him a badge for his baggy green.

He was well supported by Griff Julian (35), Harry O'Brien & Charlie Fountain (27) and the bulk of players got some runs on the board for the best team total we've ever scored.

This set the scene for a big bowling effort to keep Duncraig Carine's score low.  Despite some solid bowling early, Duncraig Carine had other ideas and came out smashing 62 off 10 overs.  It was time to take some wickets and Jye and James started turning the game with 3 reasonably quick wickets to take some momentum out of the batting.

Then everyone got involved to put the screws on with wickets to Jack Campbell, Chris Roberts and Regan Spear with a great slips catch from Jye and a diving square leg catch from Oskar Le Blanc.

It then came down to the last wicket with the last batting pair hanging in there as the run rate slowed but the wicket wouldn't be given up.  Finally Nic Harrold broke through with a thumping and loudly appealed LBW, to give the team a 48 run victory.

James capped off a great match with 3/15 and Jye grabbed 2/23 but bowling from the whole team tightened as the match progressed and really put the pressure on and make the win.  Great job boys!
